Vaccine Policy

  • We firmly believe that all children and young adults should receive all of the recommended vaccines according to the schedule published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
  • We firmly believe, based on all available literature, evidence, and current studies, that vaccines do not cause autism or other developmental disabilities.
  • We firmly believe that vaccinating children and young adults may be the single most important health-promoting intervention we perform as healthcare providers, and that you can perform as parents/caregivers. The recommended vaccines and the vaccine schedule are the results of years and years of scientific study and data gathering on millions of children by thousands of our brightest scientists and physicians.

Appointments

Our office hours are Monday- Friday our hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, we can be reached through the answering service. The office is closed daily for lunch from 12 to 1:00 PM. The office is also closed on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, ½ day on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Patients are scheduled by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling during our office hours. It is helpful to schedule check-up appointments 2-3 months in advance. For medicine follow-ups these should be made 30 days before child is out of medicine. We will make every effort to arrange appointment times that are convenient for your busy schedule.

If your child is ill and you wish to have him/her seen that day, it is best to call early in the morning so that we may accommodate your scheduling needs.

Your appointment is reserved exclusively for you. We ask that you arrive for your appointment 10-15 minutes early so there is time to park and check-in with our receptionist. Patients arriving late for appointments may be asked to reschedule, so that the remainder of the day’s patients can be seen on time. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please give at least a 24-hour notice so that another patient may be given that appointment time. You may be billed a “no show” fee for appointments that are not cancelled in a timely manner.

Calls

If your child has a true emergency (such as a seizure or major trauma), call 911.

Please call between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday to schedule appointments, to request prescription refills, or to ask brief medical questions. The phones tend to be busiest in the early morning, especially on Mondays and Fridays. For your convenience, you may wish to wait until the afternoon for issues that do not require immediate attention. Calls after 4:30P may not be returned until the next business day.

We have nurses available by telephone to answer many of your questions. They are specifically trained to counsel you, following AAP guidelines regarding well baby and childcare. They can also advise you on the care of an ill child and help determine if your child needs to be seen by a physician.

Billing & Insurance

Billing and insurance questions should be directed to the Billing Specialist on staff and can be reached by calling our main number and inputting the extension 118.

Our office is a health care provider for most major health plans. Before you call to schedule an appointment, please verify that we are participants in your plan.

Please bring your current insurance card with you to every visit. Our office will file your insurance claim if we are approved providers of your insurance plan. In the absence of a current insurance card, you will be required to pay in full at the time of service and file with your insurance company yourself.

Our fees are standardized and are based upon time spent and severity and complexity of the visit. Payment is due when services are rendered unless other arrangements have been made in advance. All co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles are collected at the time of service. For your convenience, we accept Visa and MasterCard.

In general, we will not approve telephone refills for patients who have not had a complete physical examination within one year. Have the following information available when calling the office: your child’s name, the name of the drug, the dosage of the prescription, and the pharmacy name and telephone number. Please allow 72 business hours for the prescription to be called in or ready for pick up.

With the exception of eye drops (called in at the nurse and physician’s discretion), we do not prescribe antibiotics over the telephone. We also do not prescribe controlled substances (such as narcotic pain medications or many behavioral medications) over the telephone.
