Emergencies & After Hour Care

After Hours

We recognize that children do not always become ill or injured during regular office hours. We make ourselves available to you in the evenings, on weekends, and on holidays.

If your child has a true emergency (such as a seizure or major trauma), call 911.

Calls After Hours:

We participate in the Pediatric After-Hours Program through Norton Children's Hospital. If you need urgent medical advice after hours that cannot wait until the next available office day, just call the office number and your call will be directed to an experienced pediatric nurse who will discuss your concerns. If your child's medical condition requires a visit to the doctor, the nurse will direct you to a hospital or outpatient care center.

Our Providers can be contacted through the nurse for additional concerns. Please reserve these calls for sudden or serious problems that cannot wait until the following business day. This time is not for routine questions that can wait until regular office hours. Parents should be able to give temporary treatment to non-emergency conditions, such as cold, fever, and cough.

If you do need to reach the doctor on call, for the fastest service and the best medical care, please follow these guidelines:

  • Leave your name, your child’s name, and a phone number where you can be reached.
  • Please keep the phone line open for the physician on call to return your call.
  • Have the name and phone number of your pharmacy ready.
  • If you do not receive a return call within 30 minutes, please call again.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Our Providers can be contacted through the after hours staff for illnesses that are too severe to wait until Monday.

Please remember that while we provide 24-hour coverage for our patients, we expect that calls made after hours will be for urgent problems only.
